Rajahmundry airport to have Night-landing Hyderabad, March 11 (INN): Ahead of the Infrastructure Mission launch on March 13 in Vizag, Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu today held a review meeting on the status of infrastructure and investments.
During the meeting, the Chief Minister was informed that night-landing facility at the Rajahmundry airport will begin by March-end.
The Chief Minister asked officials to focus on strengthening the existing infrastructure of airports, increasing air-traffic and suggested them to improve frequency of flight trips to Eastern countries from the state, especially from Vijayawada, Visakhapatnam and Tirupati. 'Create a special purpose vehicle that will obtain all the clearances for airports,' he added.
The Chief Minister also suggested that multi-mode transportation be incorporated into the state's tourism policy where travelers can choose their mode of transportation for a particular tourism package in the state.
He suggested officials to explore feasibility for cruises, sea planes, yachting and water sports such as yachting, sailing and snorkeling. Further, he also added that beach resorts should be developed closer to ports. Meanwhile, officials informed the Chief Minister that Kailasagiri will have an entertainment/amusement zone.
On ports development, the Chief Minister asked officials to work on ways to improve cargo to bring it to the second position in the country after Gujarat.
Given that the government has plans to set up 6 universities ' namely Water University, Logistics University, Sports University, Aqua University, Energy University and Hospitality University, the Chief Minister asked officials to study the feasibility and finalize on locations for these varsities.
On the other hand, the Chief Minister was briefed on the development of mega convention centres in Visakhapatnam, Vijayawada and Tirupati. He asked officials to explore PPP models of developing schools, golf courses, sports stadia, etc.
Principal Secretaries to CM Satish Chandra, Ajay Sawhney, Secretary to CM Sai Prasad, Secretaries Ajay Jain, S.S. Rawat, Neerab Kumar, Adhar Sinha and other officials were present.
