HM denies corruption in purchase of Police Vehicles Hyderabad, March 13 (INN): Home Minister Nayani Narsimha Reddy has dismissed the allegations of corruption or kickbacks in the purchase of new vehicles for the police department.
Replying to a query raised by Congress MLA DK Aruna and others in the Legislative Assembly during Question Hour on Friday, the Home Minister said that the TRS Government was completely free from corruption. He informed that the vehicles which are not under DGS and D Rate contract were procured through open tender system, on e-procurement platform. He said an amount of Rs 206.37 crore was allocated for the procurement of vehicles. Of this, Rs 168.98 crore has been spent and the remaining available balance is Rs 37.38 crore.
The Home Minister also informed that the State Government would recruit more number of drivers in Police Department. The Director General of Police has furnished proposals to the government for creation of 3,620 new posts of Police Constables/Drivers and the proposal is under examination.
