2 lakh employees gained from Fitment: Etala Hyderabad, March 13 (INN): Finance Minister Etala Rajender on Friday informed the Telangana Legislative Assembly that more than two lakh employees would benefit from the 43% Fitment Benefit announced by the State Government.
Replying to a question raised by TRS MLA Somarapu Sathyanarayana and others during Question Hour, Etala said that the Fitment benefit has benefitted the employees at a large scale although it has increased the burden on State Exchequer by nearly Rs 7,000 crore. He said that the government has decided to implement the pay scales as recommended by the 10th Pay Revision Commission from 01.07.2013, with monetary benefit from 02.06.2014, merging the DA 63.344% and fitment benefit of 43% in the basic pay. He said this has greatly benefitted the employees. For instance, he said those having a basic pay of Rs 52,000 will now get Rs 1.10 lakh while the pension amount would increase from Rs 3,500 to Rs 6,500 per month.
The Finance Minister said that the decision has proved that the Telangana Government was employee-friendly and it would continue to take steps for the welfare of all employees.
Raising supplementary questions, BJP MLA NVSS Prabhakar demanded that the fitment benefit should be increased further as it was minimal when compared to the rising inflation. MIM MLA Maozam Khan sought the details of exact number of beneficiaries. However, Congress MLA DK Aruna described the move as showoff by the TRS Government. She said that the decision would provide timely gain to the employees. But in the longer run, it would give no major benefit to the employees. She also demanded that the State Government also fix accountability on the employees.
