MIM, BJP alleges forcible collection of tax Hyderabad, March 13 (INN): The Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (MIM) and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has demanded that the State Government direct the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation to stop forcible collection of Property Tax from the citizens.
Raising the issue during Zero Hour in the Telangana Legislative Assembly on Friday, MIM MLA Mumtaz Ahmed Khan and BJP MLA NVSS Prabhakar alleged that GHMC officials were behaving like recovery agents and people are being asked to pay Property Tax dues on immediate basis. They condemned the closure of some shops in Jagadish Market by the GHMC for non-payment of tax and accused the corporation of creating unemployment in the city.
They demanded that Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao convene a meeting with the city MLAs to discuss and resolve the issue.
