Supply better quality rice to hostels: AP Minister Hyderabad, March 19 (INN): At present the quality of rice being provided by government to all SC and ST welfare hostels and residential schools is not of high quality. This has been noticed by Minister for SWE and TWE R Kishore Babu during his field visits to hostels and when he ate the food along with the boarders.
The Minister immediately issued instructions to the Civil Supplies Department to bring out a scheme for supply of better quality rice to hostels.
The Civil Supplies department worked out a new scheme under which preferred variety of rice (i.e rice with better quality) will be procured exclusively for hostels and residential schools of social welfare and tribal welfare departments. This will involve additional cost of Rs.25.18 crores for Tribal Welfare Department and Rs.37.95 crores for Social Welfare Department.
This additional budget is approved by the Government. G.O Ms.No.19 dated 17-03-2015 is issued by Government for SW residential Schools. G.Os for Tribal Welfare Department will also be issued shortly.
Efforts are being made to introduce the supply of better quality of rice in all SW and TW institutions from April 2015 throughout the state, the minister said.
