Federation for Chippolu community in TS Hyderabad, March 23 (INN): BC Welfare Minsiter Jogu Ramanna has assured that the Telangana Government was taking all measures to help the members of Chippolu (Meru) community in the State.
Replying to a question raised by MLA A Ramesh and others during Question Hour in Legislative Assembly on Monday, the minister said that presently the Chippolu community is included under BC-D category. The demand for their inclusion in BC-A category is under consideration. He said the community has been included in the Scheduled Tribes in Maharashtra due to its weak economic condition.
Ramanna said that nearly 97,000 people of this community, whose traditional occupation is tailoring, are partly affected due to ready made cloth stores. He said that the State Government proposes to establish a State Tailoring Federation. The proposals are under examination at Industries and Commerce (TEX) Department.
