Let us shun discrimination against women: SCR GM Hyderabad, March 23 (INN): South Central Railway General Manager PK Srivastava called upon to shun discrimination against women and accept the fact that women are performing equal to men in many vital fields such as administration, business, social development etc.,
Srivastava was delivering his inaugural address at a Seminar on 'Gender Sensitisation', organized by the RPF Training Centre, Moula Ali, at a newly constructed Auditorium at Railway protection Force Training Centre, Moula Ali, on Monday. He further said that gender discrimination has come a long way in the country and the time has come to put an end this menace. Women in India have climbed to higher levels in many fields and proved mettle in shouldering higher responsibilities, he added. He appealed to the Railway Protection Force and Government Railway Police personnel to ensure adequate security to women passengers on trains to avoid recurrence of event which took place in Chennai-Hyderabad Charminar Express few days back.
SK Agarwal, Additional General Manager, SCR, while speaking at the Seminar said that the Seminar would help sensitize RPF personnel with proper attitude and knowledge in dealing with women and their safety. Many more facilities such as Gym etc., are to come up in RPF Training Centre, Moula Ali in the next six months, as a part of developments to make this institution the National Academy of RPF.
Md. Akthar, Principal, Sultan Ul-Uloom Law College, while delivering his key-note address, at the Seminar, dwelt upon right of women for protection at work places, legal rights of women for their equality. In his welcome address, Mahim Swami, Inspector General-Director/Director, RPF Training Centre, Moula Ali thanked the administration for providing the much needed infrastructure ie Auditorium at the RPF Training Centre.
Earlier, Srivastava, inaugurated the Auditorium (225 seating capacity) where the Seminar was held. Mahim Swami, Inspector General-Director / RPF Training Centre, Moula Ali, S.C. Parhi, Chief Security Commissioner, SCR, Aruna Singh, Divisional Railway Manager, Hyderabad Division and several principal heads of departments of SCR were also present on the occasion. Srivastava inspected the training infrastructure available at the centre such as class rooms, barracks, Rifle shooting simulator room, mess, swimming pool etc. He instructed the officials to air-condition the Auditorium and to provide air-coolers at the barracks for the convenience of the trainees.
