Opposition walks out for delay in Recruitments Hyderabad, March 24 (INN): Barring MIM, the entire opposition staged a walk out from the Telangana Legislative Assembly on Tuesday accusing the State Government of having failed to fill over 1.07 lakh vacancies in different government departments.
The Congress, BJP, CPI and CPI-M members were not satisfied with the reply given by Finance Minister Eatala Rajender during Question Hour on the status of recruitment process wherein he blamed the Central Government for the delay. In his reply to the question raised by Congress MLA G Chinna Reddy and others, the Finance Minister contented that the allocation of employees of the two successor States is still pending with the Government of India.
"Definite number of vacancies will be known only after completion of the allocation. However, as per the provisional allocation of posts and employees between successor States, a total of 107.744 tentative vacancies are available in all government departments which including promotional posts and honorarium based posts like Home Guards and Anganwadi workers, etc., Necessary action is being taken to obtain the direct recruitment vacancies in respect of Local, District, Zonal and Multizonal categories from all government departments," said the Finance Minister.
Giving further details, Eatala said nearly 70 per cent posts are promotional, the rest are direct. They include Class-IV - 12,610, Home Guards - 4,986, Police Drivers - 3,620, other jobs in Police Department - 3,137 and 732 posts through Employment Exchange and 1,314 district-level posts. He said that the process for recruitment of 1,238 Engineers in Panchayat Raj Department and 3,200 posts in Police Department has already been set in motion. While there were nearly 1.16 lakh employees in SCCL once, presently it strength is of 65,000 members.
As per the Census, Eatala said there were nearly 20 lakh unemployed youth in Telangana State. While the State Government would provide jobs to about one lakh youth, self-employment opportunities would be created for others. He assured that steps would be taken to conduct the recruitment tests in Urdu language too and Muslims would be given ongoing 4% reservation in all recruitments.
The opposition members were however, not satisfied with the Minister's reply. Leader of the Opposition K Jana Reddy, BJP floor leader G Kishan Reddy, MIM floor leader Akbaruddin Owaisi, CPI MLA Ravindra Kumar and legislators slammed the government for delaying the recruitment process. They also pulled up the government for not taking steps to regularise the contract workers, as promised during elections.
Later, except MIM, all parties staged a walk out on the issue.
