Inter-state irrigation projects to be expedited Hyderabad, March 24 (INN): Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao has informed the Legislative Assembly on Tuesday that steps have been taken to expedite the completion of inter-state irrigation projects.
Replying to a question raised by MLA Hanmanth Shinde and others during Question Hour, the Minister admitted that several irrigation projects such as Pranahita Chevella, Ichampally, Lendi and Lower Penganga between Telangana and Maharashtra State have been pending for completion for the last several years. He said that Chief Ministers K Chandrashekar Rao (Telangana) and Devendra Fadnavis (Maharashtra) have come to a broad understanding to complete interstate projects without any further delay.
For Lendi Project, a Standing Committee and a Control Board has been constituted. Similarly, for Lower Penganga, the then Andhra Pradesh Government had approved the constitution of Interstate Joint Standing Committee in July 2013 and a Control Board is being constituted for the same.
A Joint Committee Inter-State Board of Telangana and Maharashtra has been formed for Pranahita Chevella project. Further, a Standing Committee and Coordination Committee have also been formed.
A review meeting on Inchampally Project was held on April 30, 2010 and decided to prepare DPF for FRL +95M and to take measures for concurrence of Chattisgarh for FRL + 95M. As the HFL of the river in the proposed site is +98M, the Dam may be proposed for FRL +98M as against the +95M to store 45 TMC of water above MDDL as against the 25 TMC. Government of Telangana also took initiatives to obtain concurrence with Chattisgarh, the minister said.
