Smriti Irani to start IIT, IIIT, IISER on 28th Hyderabad, March 25 (INN): In an attempt to make world-class education available to all, Union Human Resources Minister Smriti Irani will lay the foundation stone for three prestigious educational institutions on 28th March, Saturday in the state in presence of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and other state dignitaries.
This foundation stone laying ceremony comes in less than two months after the foundations were laid at IIM Vizag.
These three central institutions coming up in Chittoor district around Sri City are Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER), Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) and Indian Institute of Information Technology Chittoor (IIIT).
These institutions will help Andhra Pradesh will emerge as the Epicentre of Knowledge and Education.
These Institutes will tie up with various national and international institutes and Universities abroad, so that students have an opportunity to interact with the faculty and broaden their horizons.
Taking the vision of Chief Minister Sri N Chandrababu Naidu to develop AP as a model state for Innovation and Entrepreneurship, the central institutions will act as a catalyst to create talent pool and numerous career opportunities.
Given that Andhra Pradesh is strong in higher education, these institutions will emphasize on providing quality education for students with best facilities and increase the scope of skill development in the state. The government is focusing on restructuring the education system in order to empower people, create jobs, and boost economic growth.
IISER - Tirupati:
After setting up five IISERs in various places in the country, the foundation stone for the sixth one will be laid in Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh.
IISER Tirupati, meant for basic science education and research, will be different from traditional science colleges. Students will be exposed to latest developments in various fields of science and will be provided hands-on training. Research facilities will be developed in such a way that faculty are able to pursue research in front line areas and make a significant impact in the science arena.
IISER Tirupati will be a 'smart' and an environment-friendly 'green campus'.
IISER Tirupati will be mentored by IISER Pune, which was the first to be established in 2006. The institution will initially function from a temporary campus until the permanent campus comes into existence.
IIT-Tirupati:
The IIT - Tirupati will be established in an area of 590 acres at Meralapaka Village in Yerpedu Mandal, near Tirupati in Chittoor District.
IIT Madras will mentor the Tirupati campus along with the new institution in Palakkad, Kerala.
Other major institutions like IISER, SV University being located nearby, will create a critical mass and synergy for a knowledge ecosystem to flourish.
IIIT - Chittoor
Indian Institute of Information Technology Chittoor (IIIT), Chittoor
The latest IIIT institution is being set up at Sri City, Satyavedu Mandal, Chittoor District, Andhra Pradesh. The presence of world's leading companies in Sri City will provide great opportunities to the students and faculty of IIIT for research and internships.
The Institute has already commenced research programs in AI & Robotics and Smart Cities. The Smart Cities program will be extended to the 'Smart Village' program of Government of Andhra Pradesh.
The Institute will also focus on Research and Create Knowledge in the areas of ESDM (Electronic System Design & Manufacturing), Automotive Electronics, Cloud Computing, Data Analytics, Technologies for Smart Cities, Supply Chain & Logistics, Clean Energy and Aerospace.
IIIT, Tirupati will initially focus on creating WiFi Network within Sri City and develop technologies for Smart Electrical Metering & Load Management, Smart Water Metering & Leak Detection, Smart Pubic Transportation Management, and Smart Security Monitoring.
