Congress accuses KCR family of misleading people Hyderabad, March 26 (INN): Deputy CLP leader in Legislative Council Mohammed Ali Shabbir on Thursday demanded that the State Government come out with a clear stand on the Pranahita-Chevella project.
Speaking to media persons at Assembly media point, Shabbir Ali said that the Chief Minister and his family members have been trying to mislead the people of Telangana by giving contradictory statements. He said while the Chief Minister gave statements in the House and outside faulting the present design of the project. KCR has been insisting on change of design while advocating construction of barrage at Kaleshwaram instead of Tummidi-Hetti villages in Adilabad district on Telangana-Maharashtra border. On the other side, KCR's son-in-law and Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao has been justifying non-allocation of funds for the Pranahita-Chevella project. Adding more confusion, KCR's daughter and Nizamabad MP K Kavitha called on Union Minister Uma Bharathi demanding declaration of dam, with the present design, as National Project.
Shabbir Ali said KCR family members are trying to mislead about 4.5 crore people of Telangana on Pranahita-Chevella while finding newer ways of delaying the project. He said the controversial stand on project's design would deter the Centre from declaring it as National Project while the State Government too would get away by not allocating sufficient funds. He demanded that the Chief Minister come out with a clear stand on the issue during the debate on Appropriation Bill in the Legislative Council.
When asked for reaction on the results of MLC elections, Shabbir Ali said that the Congress party never gave political importance to Graduates or Teachers constituencies. Even during the regime of powerful Dr YS Rajasekhara Reddy, the Congress party did not make any political interference. However, in view of entry of TRS, BJP and other parties, the Congress too entered the fray and took a late decision on candidates. However, he said that the results should act as an eye-opener for KCR, who has been functioning like a dictator.
Shabbir Ali said people's reaction to KCR's appeal for votes in MLC polls was a tight slap as it is defined in Telugu as, "Chempa Chellu, Guba Guyyi manipiyyale". He said that the TRS Government neglected the families of Telangana martyrs, did not provide jobs to unemployed and went back on the promises that it made with the employees. He said all these sections rejected the TRS and gave clear indication that it was the beginning of end for TRS.
