Don't waste public money: Jeevan Reddy Hyderabad, April 4 (INN): Deputy CLP leader in Assembly T Jeevan Reddy on Saturday asked the Telangana Government to focus on completion of Pranahita Chevella project instead of wasting public money on Water Grid project.
Speaking to media persons in Assembly premises here, Jeevan Reddy said it was not justified to spend Rs 40,000 crore on Water Grid project in Telangana. Instead, the government should spend Rs 2,000 crore on Prahanahit Chevella project which would ensure water for drinking and irrigation besides increasing the water levels in hundreds of villages. Similarly, the State Government could set up water purification plants in all village at a cost of Rs 1,000 crore. By doing this, the government could save Rs 38,000 crore of public money.
Jeevan Reddy also condemned the silence of State Government over the loss of seven mandals of Khammam district to Andhra Pradesh for Polavaram project. He said except for passing a resolution in Legislative Assembly, the Telangana Government took no measures to address the issue.
