Nalgonda assailants belonged to SIMI: DGP Hyderabad, April 5 (INN): The two militants who were killed in Nalgonda encounter belonged to the banned Students Islamic Movement of India (SIMI), said DGP Anurag Sharma on Sunday.
Both were natives of Madhya Pradesh. While Md. Aijajuddeen was a native of Kareli of Narsinghpur district, Md Aslam alias Bilal hailed from Ganesh Talai of Khandwa in Madhya Pradesh. They been the active members of SIMI, Madhya Pradesh, involved in acts of terror in India. In the intervening night of 1st and 2nd April, while the police were conducting checks on the suspicious passengers in Suryapet Hi-Tech Bus stop, Nalgonda District, suddenly these two assailants, viz., Md. Aijajuddeen and Md. Aslam, who were travelling from Hyderabad to Vijayawada opened fire on police personnel. They killed one constable and a Home Guard and injured one Circle Inspector and another Home Guard. They also tried to stop a car at gunpoint and injured one civilian when the driver did not stop.
Constable Lingaiah and Home guard Mahesh were killed on the spot and injured Circle Inspector Mogilaiah and Home guard Kishore are under treatment in the hospital. The name of the civilian Dorababu who also was injured is in the Hospital on treatment.
Further on April 4, these two assailants opened fire on a Police party near Janakipuram, Nalgonda District, killing one Police Constable K Nagaraju and critically injuring a Sub-Inspector D.Siddaiah and injuring another Circle Inspector Bala Ganga Reddy. The two assailants died in the exchange of fire.
According to Telangana police, they were involved in several cases in the past including, firing on Pramod Tiwari, BJP leader of Khandwa, MP (Jan 2009 by Abu Faisal, Amjad & Mehboob) Robbing Rs. 60,000/- from a Businessman at Emlipura, Khandwa, MP (Feb, 2009 by Aslam, Mehboob, Amjad & Abu Faisal); Dacoity in Narmada Gramina Bank, Dewas, MP (Rs. 1,25,000/-) (Sep, 2009 by Abu Faisal, Amjad, Zakir, Mehboob & Aslam); Dacoity in Bank of India, Vijay Mundi Diwas, MP (Rs. 9.50 lakhs) (Oct 2009 by Abu Faisal, Aslam, Mehboob, Zakir and lqrar Shaik); Conspiracy to eliminate Jailor Sanjay pandey, Satna jail, MP (Oct 2009); Murder of constable Sitaram Yadav of Khandwa, MP (Nov 2009 Abu Faisal, Ayaz, Aslam); Canara bank Dacoity, ltrasi, MP (Rs.70-80 thousands) (Mar 2010 by Abu Faisal, Aslam, lkrar Shaik & Aijajuddin); Punjab National Bank Dacoity, Ratlam District, MP (Rs. 1.00 lakh) (Apr 2010 by Abu Faisal, Aslam, lkrar Shaik, Zakir, Aijaj & Mujeeb); State Bank of India Dacoity, Indore (Rs. 1.00 lakh) (May 2010 by Abu Faisal, Aijaj, Aslam Zakir, Mujeeb and lkrar Shaik); Manappuram Gold Finance Limited Dacoity, Bhopal talkies, MP (10 kilos of gold) (Sep 2010 by Abu Faisal, Aijaj, lkrar Shaik, Mujeeb, Zakir & Aslam) and firing on Sri Bherulaal Tak (Judge of a local court) r/o Nagda, Ujjain, MP (May 2010 by Abu Faisal, Sharafath and Farhath).
The two fugitive SIMI cadres were also suspected to be involved in the following cases: On 13.12.2013 they robbed Rs. 1.25 lakhs from Jharsiguda Gramina bank, Orissa; On 01.02.2014 committed robbery at SBI Choppadandy, Karimnagar district, Telangana and took away Rs. 46 lakhs; Blast in Bangalore-Guwahati Express at Chennai Railway Station (May 2014); Bomb blast in front of Faraskhana Police Station, near Dagdusheth Halwai Ganpati temple, Pune (July 2014); Recovery of unexploded bomb lED in train at Rewari, Haryana (September 2014); Bijnor (UP) blast (October 2014); Dacoity at Mini Muthootttu group, Ramachandrapuram, Medak District, Telangana ( around 3.2 kg worth Gold and 22.5 lakh cash); Dacoity in Dhanbad - Alleppey Express near Kasinga Railway Station of Odisa State (14/15.02.2015) and Robbery in HDFC Bank, Lucknow of Uttar Pradesh State (27.02.2015).
The Madhya Pradesh Police have assisted in identification of the two assailants namely Md. Aijajuddeen and Md.Aslam with the help of finger prints and facial identifications today.
The State police have recovered the Carbine which had been snatched from Constable Lingaiah at Suryapet Bus stand. The Police have also recovered two country made Pistols which had been used in firing at Suryapet and at Janakipuram. The Motor cycle which had been snatched from a citizen at Arvapally to tried to escape also been recovered.
The senior police officials are supervising the investigation.
Home Minister Nayani Narsimha Reddy has already announced an ex gratia payment of Rs. 40 lakhs each to the bereaved families of constables Lingaiah and Nagaraju and Rs. 10 lakhs to Home guards Mahesh in recognition of their courageous efforts in nabbing the dreaded criminals wanted for their heinous crimes all over the country. The Government also assured a job and normal salary till the constable's superannuation to the family besides other normal benefits.
Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, who is monitoring the developments, lauded the services of police personnel in making supreme sacrifice in line of duty.
