Jogu Ramanna to oversee Phule birthday celebrations
Hyderabad, April 6 (INN): Backward Classes Welfare Minister Jogu Ramanna has been nominated as the chairman of the committee for celebration of Mahatma Jyothiba Phule's birthday as State Function on April 11 across the Telangana State.
Earlier on March 27, the Telangana Government had issued orders declaring the birthday celebration of Mahatma Jyothiba Phule falling as 'State Function' every year. Orders were also issued communicating the salient features in the life history of Mahatma Jyothiba Phule including the achievements in the fields of social and economic aspects. Further, an amount of Rs 7 lakh to meet the expenditure in connection with celebration of 189th Jayanthi of Mahatma Jyothiba Phule was also sanctioned.
On Monday, the State Government issued orders nominating Jogu Ramanna as the committee's chairman. 'The celebration shall not be used for any political campaign and no address shall be made by any political functionary on political lines,' the GO said.
