Deadline set for Godavari Pushkarams works Hyderabad, April 7 (INN): Setting a deadline of May 30th for completion and restoration/reform works, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu directed the officials to complete works at a faster pace.
He held a review meeting on the arrangements for Godavari Pushkarams in secretariat today.
Speaking on the prominence of Godavari river, he asked the officials to take measures to instill the sacred feeling towards Godavari River among the people.
Adding that the government is keen on interlinking of rivers, the Chief Minister said that Godavari will be linked to Krishna River and Krishna River to Penna to make the Andhra Pradesh a drought-free state.
Formulating Pushkarams committee in every village, the Chief Minister directed the officials to supply the holy Godavari water to various temples in the state.
Godavari Pushkarams Committee Chairman Dr. Parakala Prabhakar mentioned the ancient tradition of carrying river water in a Kavadi to the temple. The Chief Minister asked the officials to explore possibilities of organizing a 'Kavadi Mela.'
The Chief Minister was also briefed about the progress of restoration and beautification works of temples. He set a deadline of May 30 to conclude the works of Ghat constructions, highway works and preparation of other amenities. He has also directed the officials to clear road poaching on Bheemadolu - Dwaraka Tirumala road within 15 days.
During the meeting, Principal Secretary of Endowments J.S.V. Prasad informed the Chief Minister that a blue print on the work progress will be made ready by the next review meeting.
Chief Secretary I.Y.R. Krishna Rao, Ministers Acchan Naidu, Devineni Uma Maheswara rao, Godavari Pushkarams Committee Chairman and Advisor (Communications) of GoAP Dr. Parakala Prabhakar and other senior officials were present at the meeting.
