Make people partners in development: AP CM Hyderabad, April .: In a meeting with the Municipal Administration and Urban Development (MA&UD) officials, Chief Minister Sri N. Chandrababu Naidu emphasized on modernization and beautification of towns in the state.
The Chief Minister held a review meeting with officials of MA&UD department, MEPMA, public health and 13 Corporations in Secretariat today.
The Chief Minister directed the departments of Sports, Tourism, Roads and Buildings, Electricity & Lighting and Police to work together in drafting a plan to develop towns. He has also asked the officials to approach people and discuss the developmental ideas, eventually making them partners in development.
Officials informed the Chief Minister that over 6,440 metric tonnes of waste is being collected every day from towns and 90 percent of the waste is sent to the dumping yards. He asked officials to work on waste-to-energy and waste-to-wealth technologies.
The Chief Minister said that the door-to-door collection of garbage should be implemented thoroughly in the state by July so that there are no trash cans filled with garbage on roads.
He suggested that a similar door-to-door approach be taken up for commercial establishment. He added that rag pickers should be educated about hygiene & use of protective gear and also about the segregation of waste
The Chief Minister asked the officials to outsource the maintenance of roads and parks to agencies. He added that the performance of the agencies must be monitored continuously and the department should also ensure to renew their contracts if found good.
The officials briefed the Chief Minister that there are 1.28 lakh women organizations in towns with Corpus fund up to Rs 780 crore.
In order to give these groups financial strength, the Chief Minister directed the officials to train them in 148 different skills. The department said that there is potential to create 6,000 groups which can be trained in these skills.
Municipal Administration Minister P. Narayana, Principal Secretary Giridhar, Secretaries Jaya Lakshmi, Solmon Raju, Municipal commissioners Kanna Babu, chakradhar, Murali and others were present at the meeting.
