World Toilet Organisation helping AP in waste management Hyderabad, April 7: The World Toilet Organization has come forward to work with Andhra Pradesh to work on building toilets and help the state in effective waste management.
Jack Sim, founder of the World Toilet Organization, famously known as Mr. Toilet, met Chief Minister today along with other industry leaders to prepare a report on Swachh Bharat Mission.
Mr. Sim's goal, he said, is to make sure everyone is using toilets, because that way, nothing is getting contaminated.
The Chief Minister informed Mr. Sim that he along with 9 other CMs have been nominated by the Government of India to submit a detailed report on best practices for Swachh Bharat Mission within 3 months.
The Chief Minister told the group and Mr. Sim that the report should include best practices about waste management, garbage segregation, recycling of waste and technologies about waste to wealth and waste to energy conversion.
He urged that only building toilets wouldn't work but the Group would also have to work on creating importance on usage of toilets, health and hygiene and bringing in a behavioural change.
Mr. Sim informed the Chief Minister that the industry along with his organisation will offer technical and non-technical expertise and will facilitate funding agencies to build the individual household late times and community toilets.
For this, the group will set short-term, medium-term and long-term goals, Mr.Sim said.
They also told the Chief Minister that a public service message (PSM) with him and actors from Telugu Film Industry highlighting the importance of using toilets is on the anvil.
The State government earlier this year launched the Swachh Andhra Pradesh campaign. The team of industry leaders will come up with various slogans for the PSM.
