Venkaiah accuses HR activists of having "double standards" Hyderabad, April 11 (INN): Union Minister for Urban Development M Venkaiah Naidu on Saturday accused the Human Rights activists and forums of adopting 'double standards' in cases of encounters.
Speaking to media persons here, Venkaiah said that the Human Rights organisations maintain silence when police officials are killed on duty. However, they make hue and cry when someo one gets killed in encounter with security personnel. Referring to the recent encounters of alleged SIMI operatives and sandalwood smugglers in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, he condemned the demands for probes made by human rights activists and said they should not have double standards on these issues.
Venkaiah also criticised the Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen for demanding CBI probe into the Alair encounter and questioned as to why it remained silent when terrorists killed common people.
