Venkaiah assures assistance to farmers
Hyderabad, April 15 (INN): Union Minister for Urban Development M Venkaiah Naidu and Minister of State for Agriculture M. Kundaria visited the unseasonal rains affected areas in Nalgonda district of Telangana state on Wednesday.
Inspecting the crops damaged by the rains, Venkaiah Naidu met the affected farmers and assured them of all the possible assistance from the Central Government. He said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi was deeply concerned about the loss to the farmers. The government would raise the compensation limit to help the farmers whose crops have been affected by rain and hailstorm. A decision has been taken by the Prime Minister that compensation would be given to the farmers who suffer losses up to 30 percent of their crops in natural calamities.
Also, on the visits to Bhongir, Bhudan Pochampalli( Revana Palli & Shiva Reddy Gudem Villages) and Bibi Nagar mandals in Nalgonda district, Naidu assured farmers to provide the irrigation facilities and that the government would take up cleaning of Musi River. He assured farmers that the central government would extend them all possible assistance.
Venkaiah Naidu, who was accompanied by Kundaria and the BJP's Telangana unit president G Kishan Reddy, said that the Prime Minister has taken a decision that farmers who suffer loss of 30 percent of their crops in natural calamities would be compensated.
The unseasonal rains have created havoc in Telugu states. These rains have lashed out the crops causing enormous loss to the farmers of corns, Mirchi, rice, Papaya and Mango. Farmers are filled with sorrow for the loss of crops which were about to be reaped. He said that the state government has to submit a detailed report on the damage occurred by rains to the Centre. An official committee appointed by the centre will inspect the rain affected areas and will decide the compensation.
