Hyderabad WIFI project launched by KTR Hyderabad, April 16: Government of Telangana's vision is to make "Telangana the most preferred technology investment destination in the country". Under the dynamic leadership of Sri. K.Chandrasekhar Rao, Chief Minister of Telangana, the Government has taken up multiple initiatives to promote good governance in the state. One of the marquee initiatives of the state Government has been to make Hyderabad a completely Wifi enabled City.
This initiative is the precursor to making Hyderabad a Smart City ' joining the league of International cities such as San Francisco, Barcelona, London etc. With the launch of Hyderabad
WIFI Project ' it has brought Hyderabad, the capital city of Telangana , as the first city in India to become WIFI enabled.
Government of Telangana in association with BSNL (a Government of India Undertaking & Internet Service Provider) and Quadgen Wireless Solutions (WIFI infrastructure Provider) has launched this unique initiative. This initiative of the State Government will enable the Citizens of Telangana to experience high speed internet access with speeds @ 10mbps.
Hyderabad WiFi project is uniquely positioned to enable the fastest Wi-Fi Hot Spot using the readily available OFC network of around 4000+km length in the Twin Cities.
Government of Telangana plans to provide Wi-Fi services at over 2000 locations in Twin Cities and about 50 Villages in Telangana in Phase 1 in next 180 days. Further, it has plans to connect all major District Head Quarters (DHQ) in Telangana State with Wifi The beneficiaries of the mobile Internet access at high speeds on Wi-Fi technology would be Colleges, Schools, Hospitals, Bus stations, Parks, tourist locations and the entire Cyberabad area.
Citizens will avail Free Wifi Service (300 MBPS) for first half an hour and subsequently on a chargeable basis. The prices have been most competitively packaged providing highest quality of speed with unquestionable security.
Speaking to the Media at the launch of Hyderabad Wifi Project, Sri. K.T.Rama Rao, Hon'ble Minister for IT, mentioned that Government of Telangana aspires to reach a target of Rs.1.2 lakh Crores of IT exports from the current level of Rs.60,000 Crores in the next five years. The ICT sector currently employs over 3.25 lakhs IT professionals.
Hon'ble Minister further mentioned that 'Hyderabad has rightly emerged as a contender to become the ICT capital of India. With the presence of a large pool of talented IT professionals and home to leading MNCs, the city of Hyderabad has earned the reputation of being the destination of choice for businesses across industries. Initiatives such as Wifi enabled city will bring a great economic value and open up new Business avenues'.
Hon'ble Minsiter during the launch of Hyderabad WIFI Project had a live video (FACE TIME & SKYPE) Call with Sri. Ravishankar Prasad, Hon'ble Union Minister for IT & Telecommunications, Government of India. Hon'ble Union Minister congratulated the Government of Telangana on this unique initiative.
Also present on this occasion were Sri. Somesh Kumar, Commissioner GHMC, Sri. Jayesh Ranjan, Secretary IT, Sri. Anupam Shrivastava, CMD BSNL and Sri. C.S.Rao, Chairman Quadgen Wireless Solutions along with industry representatives from HYSEA, NASSCOM, CII, FICCI, FAPCCI, and AVCGI.
