Eatala promises assistance for cane workers Finance Minister Eatala Rajender has assured that the State Government would provide all required assistance to the cane workers across the Telangana State.
Addressing the Rashtra Medhari Sangham Maha Sabha at Exhibition Grounds here on Sunday, the Finance Minister announced Rs 15 crore for the welfare of cane workers. He said several workers belong to the Medhari community, which has been categorised as Backward Classes - A in Telangana State. He said the community is recognised as a Scheduled Tribe in Karantaka and Andhra Pradesh and the Telangana Government too would consider its inclusion in the STs.
Eatala said that the State Government would take measures to support the cane workers and also to promote their products. Stating that the use of plastic material has immense damage to the revenues of cane workers, he said that the cane products should be promoted at all levels so as to help the community.
Handicrafts Minister Jupally Krishna Rao, Health Minister Dr C Lakshma Reddy and other leaders addressed the Maha Sabha.
