AP CM firm on world class infrastructure For giving a facelift to the existing power distribution infrastructure and to build world class systems for rendering the best quality and reliable 24X7 power supply, Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, has emphasized the need for giving utmost priority for successful implementation of IPDS (Integrated Power Development Scheme) & DDUGJY (Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Gram Jyothi Yojana), which will play a vital role in achieving the goals of 24x 7 power.
Disclosing this during an interaction with officials, Chief Secretary Dr. I.Y.R. Krishna Rao has stated that sustainable implementation of 24X7 (PFA) power supply in the state is the most favorite scheme of the Chief Minister among all the welfare measures/schemes undertaken by the State Govt.
In line with the advice of the Union Ministry of Power and State Government are contemplating to establish 'District Electricity Committees' for reviewing and monitoring the execution of the prestigious projects of IPDS (Integrated Power Development Scheme) & DDUGJY (Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Gram Jyothi Yojana), which paves way for all round development of distribution sector. Instructions in this regard are expected to be issued by Chief Minister for formation of District Electricity Committees, which will comprise of Senior Most MP of the District as Chairperson, other MPs as Co-Chairpersons, District as Convener and District Panchayat President/Sabhapati, MLAs of the district and Senior Most representatives of Central Public Sector Undertakings of Power, Coal and MNRE Ministry if located in the concerned district as Members and CE/Superintending Engineer of the DISCOM as Member Secretary.
The expeditious implementation of IPDS and DDUGJY is imperative for achieving the objective of the Govt to provide 24 x 7 uninterrupted quality & reliable power supply. In tune with the policy of Govt. to electrify all households by March 2016, the DISCOMS have to gear up to spend Rs.330 Crores for implementation of DDUGJY scheme under which electrification of 1031 un-electrified habitations and 683,501 rural households including 432,334 Below Poverty Line (BPL) are being taken up, apart from separation of agriculture feeders, metering at distribution transformers, feeders and consumers end, the Chief Secretary said.
K Vijayanand, CMD/APTRANSCO (FAC) & MD/APGENCO informed that the utilities are going to execute IPDS at a cost of Rs.430 Crore by taking up of strengthening of distribution & transmission network, metering at all levels and IT enablement of distribution sector like establishment of online feeder monitoring systems and computerized 24x7 Customer Call Centers.
Meanwhile, before leaving for USA to participate in the international workshop on Energy Efficiency, Ajay Jain, Secretary, (Energy, I&I) has suggested Advisor/ Energy Dept. K Ranganatham to prepare a detailed technical report within a fortnight on the impact of IPDS & DDUGJY and further steps to be taken up for expediting these schemes which paves the way for further reducing the Technical & Commercial losses and providing value added services to the electricity consumers. The said technical report is expected to be submitted to the Chief Minister, which helps the DISCOMs in successful implementation and timely completion of these two prestigious projects of IPDS & DDUGJY initiated by Govt. of India.
