BJP holds dharna against Property Tax Hyderabad, May 15 (INN): Nearly 300 activists of Bharatiya Janata Party were taken into custody after they held a two-hour long dharna at the GHMC Headquarters at Tank Bund on Friday accusing the corporation of burdening the common people in the name of Property Tax.
Speaking to media persons, BJP floor leader Dr K Lakshman alleged that the GHMC has focused all its energies on collection of Property Tax while completely forgetting its primary duty of providing civic amenities to the people He alleged that the corporation was using coercive methods to collect Property Tax from the people. He also alleged that GHMC Commissioner Somesh Kumar was concentrating more on pleasing Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao than exercising his real duties.
BJP MLAs including G Kishan Reddy, NVSS Prabhakar, Raja Singh and MLC Ramchander Rao and other activists were taken into custody by the police and shifted to Gosha Mahal Stadium. They were later released on bail.
