Padayatra had no political motives: VHR Hyderabad, May 16 (INN): Congress senior leader and Rajya Sabha member V Hanumantha Rao on Saturday claimed that there were no political motives behind the 'Kisan Sandesh Yatra' of AICC Vice-President Rahul Gandhi.
Speaking to media persons here, VHR said Rahul Gandhi's sole intention was to instill confidence among the farmers and prevent them from committing suicide. Asking other parties not to politicise the padayatra, he said Rahul Gandhi did not visit even Hyderabad only to avoid giving political colour to Kisan Sandesh Yatra. By visiting the families of those farmers who committed suicide, Rahul Gandhi tried to send a message that the farmers were not alone in their struggle.
VHR alleged that the BJP-led NDA Government at the Centre and TRS Government in Telangana have failed to address the issues concerning farmers.
The Congress MP also alleged there were several irregularities in the Bhoodan Board and demanded probe and action against Board's chairman Rajender Reddy.
