Governor, CM launches 'Swachh Hyderabad' Hyderabad, May 16 (INN): Governor ESL Narasimhan and Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao formally launched the 'Swachh Telangana - Swachh Hyderabad' programme at the HICC Convention Centre here on Saturday.
They also unveiled the logo, CD and Facebook Page of the 'Swachh Hyderabad' campaign.
Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister said despite having a distinct and unique identity across the work, Hyderabad lacks perfect mechanism for sanitation and cleanliness. To bridge this gap, the Telangana Government has launched the Swachh Hyderabad campaign to turn Hyderabad into a clean and green city. He said that the concept of clean environment was first advocated by Mahatma Gandhi which inspired Prime Minister Narendra Modi to launch the Swach Bharat Abhiyaan. Taking it more forward, the State Government has decided to launch "Swachh Telangana - Swachh Hyderabad".
KCR informed that while State Government would spent Rs 200 crore on the programme, the Centre has sanctioned Rs 75 crore for the same. He thanked Union Labour Minister Bandaru Dattatreyya for getting the funds from the Centre.
The Chief Minister claimed that the Swachh Hyderabad would be unique in many ways wherein government would involve local residents in making their localities clean and green. He said that the Swachh Telangana programme would be soon launched in other cities and towns across Telangana.
KCR requested all public representatives, cutting across party lines, to participate in the programme. He reiterated that Swachh Hyderabad would be a continuous programme.
Assembly Speaker S Madhusudan Chary, Legislative Council Chairman Swamy Goud, Deputy Chief Ministers Kadiyam Srihari and Mohammed Mahmood Ali, Ministers Nayani Narasimha Reddy, Etala Rajender and T Harish Rao, Chief Secretary Dr Rajiv Sharma, GHMC Commissioner Somesh Kumar were among those present on the occasion.
