AP CS wants cement at concessional rates Hyderabad, May 20 (INN): Andhra Pradesh Chief Secretary I.Y.R. Krishna Rao on Wednesday held a meeting with the officers of Panchayat Raj, Water Resources, Industries and Transport , Road and Buildings Departments to ensure supply of Cement at concessional rate to Government works.
Industries Secretary S.S. Rawat informed that the Government of India has notified the rates for procurement of cement for National Highway Projects which range between Rs.171/- to Rs.220/- per bag, which is less than the existing market price. He further informed that he had a meeting with Cement Industry representatives for a further reduction on the notified price of Govt. of India and would be finalized shortly. He also informed that the requirement for all Government works is going to be of the range of 30 Lakh Tonnes whereas the production of the Cement Factories in the State today is 30 Million Tonnes at the capacity, at which they are working. Secretary Industries will notify these rates factory-wise to follow the same for procurement by all the Engineering Departments.
All the Engineering Departments have been asked to revise their Cement Rate in SSR and adopt this for payment and also facilitate procurement of Cement by Contractors or the Executors of the public works at these rates from Cement Factories. They should also evolve internal mechanism appropriate to their Department with reference to the procedure of works execution for payment of the same, the indenting, delivery and payment for procurement at this concessional rate, Chief Secretary added.
Krishna Rao has directed the Works Departments to work out and an Electronic Platform for indenting the Cement required for public works and also its delivery and utilization.
