KCR sanctions Rs 30 Crore projects for old city
Hyderabad, May 20 (INN): Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao has announced release of Rs 20-25 crore for the completion of pending drainage works in the Old City of Hyderabad.
Speaking while participating in the 'Swachh Hyderabad' programme in Balsetty Khet of Noor Khan Bazar in the Old City on Wednesday, the Chief Minister assured that the promised funds would be released on immediate basis. He also sanctioned Rs 12 crore for the construction of 1,000 litre water reservoir for Noor Khan Bazar area. The reservoir will be named after Hazrath Abbas and its construction will be completed in six months. KCR said GOs for both the projects would be issued by Thursday.
The Chief Minister assured to resolve all the problems being faced by the residents of Old City of Hyderabad. He said that the Telangana Government could not function properly for almost eight months due to non-allotment of cadre. However, the works have gathered pace about three months ago.
KCR appealed to the people to maintain Ganga-Jamuni culture of Hyderabad which is in existence for the last 450 years.
The Chief Minister claimed that his government has overcome the energy crisis in the State while proving the contentions of Seemandhra leaders wrong of Telangana become a dark state after bifurcation.
Earlier, MIM President and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi welcomed the Chief Minister in the Old City. He briefed KCR on the scarcity of drinking water being faced by the residents of Noor Khan Bazar and Dabeerpura.
Speaking on the occasion, Owaisi alleged that all works were at standstill for almost four years before the formation of Telangana. He blamed the inefficiency of Congress Chief Ministers for lack of development in the Old City. He hoped that the new State would turn into a "Bangaru Telangana" in near future.
Deputy Chief Minister Mohammed Mahmood Ali, Minister Jagadishwar Reddy, MIM MLAs Syed Ahmed Pasha Quadri, Mumtaz Ahmed Khan, Ahmed Balala and MLC Syed Altaf Hyder Razvi, TRS MLC Mohammed Saleem and other leaders were also present.
