Australia interested Water, Sports University in AP Hyderabad, May 21: Mr. Sean Kelly, Counsellor, Australia Consulate along with a delegation met Chief Minister Sri N. Chandrababu Naidu today at Secretariat. Stating that Andhra Pradesh is hub of aquaculture, Mr Kelly said the country is interested to explore opportunities in the sector.
Ahead of meeting the Chief Minister, the Australian delegation held a series of discussions with government officials on various sectors in which Australia can collaborate with AP.
The delegation also evinced interest in contributing to the Sports and Water Resources Badminton coach Pullela Gopichand, who is working closely with the government on sports-related infrastructure, stressed on the need to build such centers of excellence that can provide employment opportunities to youth.

"Instead of people going to foreign countries for education, we can provide them with opportunities in the state," he added.
The Chief Minister was also informed about the five-year integrated course that will see active collaboration between state and Australian universities. The course will be structured in a way that students spend 3.5 years in AP while the remaining 1.5 years will be spent in Australia, as part of the tie-up.
Stating that the government's smart Andhra Pradesh idea is innovative and novel, Mr. Kelly informed the Chief Minister that they are interested to be a part of it.
Given that the state is leading in dairy production, another member of the delegation emphasized on incorporating technology expertise to yield better profits.
The delegation added that they want to tap the state's potential in mining. "Now that we have abundant raw materials, we need to work on bringing expertise into it," the Chief Minister added.
Mr. Kelly informed the Chief Minister that they will map a timeline while preparing an Special Chief secretary S.P. Tucker, Secretary- Higher Education Sumita Dawra, Secretary (Energy & Infrastructure) Ajay Jain, Secretary (industries) SS Rawat and other officials were present.
