OU students attack hotel owned by TRS leader Hyderabad, May 25 (INN): Nearly 100 students of Osmania University on Monday attacked a hotel at Habsiguda while alleging that the same has been built by encroaching land belonging to the university.
The OU students, affiliated with the Telangana Vidyarthi Vedika (TVV), attacked the Swagath Grand Hotel at Habsiguda and damaged its glass panes and furniture. They alleged that a TRS leader, Mutti Reddy, has encroached upon the university land to construct a hotel and other commercial buildings.
On information, heavy contingent of police personnel reached the spot and took some students into custody. Heavy forces were also deployed within and outside the OU premises.
The OU students have warned of severe protest if Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao acquires university's land for weaker section housing.
The hotel is reportedly owned by Janagaon TRS MLA M Yadagiri Reddy.
Meanwhile, the OUJAC has approached the Lok Ayukta seeking its intervention to protect the university's land.
