Naidu scores 200/100 in Corruption : APCC

Hyderabad, May 31: The Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee today said that chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu scored a massive 200 on hundred in corruption, but only zeros in his main election promises.

The report blasted Mr Naidu and his government on corruption. 'No work is being done until and unless suitcases and briefcases are given to 'Big Boss' and 'Small Boss'', it said in an oblique reference to Mr Naidu and his son Mr N Lokesh.

The APCC president Mr N Raghuveera Reddy released a Progress Report of the government, which would be completing its first year on June 8. It picked only 18 of the 600 promises made by the TDP for the 2014 elections.

The report gave seven on hundred on the implementation of Mr Naidu's main election promise of unconditional waiver of all farmers' loans. 'Here, of the Rs 87,000 crores required the government gave a mere Rs 7,000 cr. Mr Naidu mocked the farmer by giving him a hat of debt and totally deceiving him', the report said.

It said that the free health insurance scheme of Arogyasri has been kept in abeyance and instead NTR Health Cards would be issued to those below the poverty line. 'Even the scheme named after his father-in-law and TDP founder, NTR, is a total non-starter', it said while giving it zero on hundred.

Another area where the government was similarly awarded was the abolition of belt shops, which was one of the files Mr Naidu signed when he took over on June 8, 2014. 'On the contrary, belt shops are going to become more extensive with the government deciding to take over the retail sale of liquor', it said.

The report said the government scored another zero on its promise to give interest free loans to Dalits. 'Let alone giving new loans, the loans earlier sanctioned by the Congress government have been withdrawn by this government', the report said.

The Progress Report gave zeros to the TDP government on Muslims welfare and Tribal welfare. 'It has now become abundantly clear that the Muslims and Tribals are no longer important to this government. The influence of the BJP and corporate powers on this government could be a reason for this. Or how else can one explain that for the first time in the history of the state, there is not a single minister from the Muslim community or from the Tribals is in the Naidu Cabinet?' the report said.

The Progress Report slammed Mr Naidu for ignoring his repeated promise to make AP 'a drought free state'. 'The government has done nothing to alleviate drought in the last year. Now with the Indian Meteorological Department forecasting less than average rainfall for the coming monsoon, we were very worried if the government would do anything at all to protect the farmers. Already the farming community are saying that droughts have returned as Mr Naidu has returned and recall how the state reeled under drought after drought during his nine-year tenure', the report card said.

While releasing the report he said, 'We are ready for a public debate anywhere in the state. We challenge him to accept this debate and not chicken out like he did when we challenged him similarly when the Congress was in the Opposition earlier'.

Mr Raghuveera Reddy said, 'This Progress Report would be circulated to the people by the Congress party to expose the TDP government and educate the people on how Mr Naidu is deceiving them right royally'.
