GHMC celebrates Telangana Formation Day Hyderabad, June 2 (INN): GHMC Commissioner and Special Officer Somesh Kumar on Tuesday hoisted the National Flag at GHMC Head Office on the occasion of connection first anniversary of formation of Telangana State.
Speaking on the occasion, Somesh Kumar said that the people of Telangana were celebrating one year formation day because of selfless sacrifices made by the martyrs. The citizens should salute those who lost their lives for the sake of separate Telangana.
The GHMC Commissioner said that in the last one year Telangana Government took up various innovative schemes for the development of Hyderabad as a global city. He said that the 'Swachh Telangana ' Swachh Hyderabad' campaign was taken up with 425 teams and the entire state administration was involved in the drive. He said it was the biggest initiative taken up any government in the world so far. During the 5-day programme, about 60,000 tons of garbage and debris was lifted.
Somesh Kumar said that the GHMC was planning to constitute a committee to continue Swachh Hyderabad campaign in a more effective manner. He said that 2000 tippers and modern equipment machineries are proposed to be deployed to keep the city clean.
The Commissioner thanked Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao for issuing the G.O. to take up construction of 20 flyovers/junctions at an estimated cost of Rs. 4051 crores under the Strategic Road Development Plan.
