AP plans to handover land to NPCIL Hyderabad, June 4 (INN): The Andhra Pradesh Government is exploring the possibilities to handover the land in advance acquired for Nuclear Power Corporation of India Ltd (NPCIL) for Kovvada Nuclear Project, Srikakulam, by taking the consent of land owners as per the rules of existing law and procedures.
In a meeting held on Thursday with the officials of Atomic Energy, NPCIL, Energy Departments and through video conference with the Collector, Srikakulam District, Chief Secretary I.Y.R. Krishna Rao has reviewed on the land acquisition progress for the proposed Nuclear Project, Kovvada in Srikakulam District. The Central Government approved the proposal of NPCIL for the Nuclear Project duly obtaining necessary clearances from Atomic Energy Regulatory Board and Government of Andhra Pradesh has already issued orders for land acquisition in Srikakulam District for the Nuclear Project.
The Chief Secretary suggested the NPCIL for depositing 80% total cost of the project to the Government of Andhra Pradesh as indicated by the Dist. Collector, Srikakulam and allow him to handover the land within stipulated period by fulfilling the formalities.
Srikakulam Collector Dr. P. Lakshmi Narasimham informed that the land will be handover to NPCIL within the time, by offering the best package to the land owners as per the present Government's new land policy.
Addl. Secretary Atomic Energy C.B.S. Venkata Ramana, Secretary Energy Ajay Jain, CMD APTRANSCO Vijayanand and others attended the meeting.
