'Swachh Hyderabad' team inspects works
Hyderabad, June 4 (INN): The members of newly constituted committee for 'Swachh Hyderabad' on Thursday visited some of the South Zone areas to inspected nalas, lakes and garbage lifting centres.
The team included ministers Nayini Narsimha Reddy and T Padma Rao, MPs K. Keshava Rao and Ch. Malla Reddy and MLA T Prakash Goud. They inspected some of the areas of Attapur, Huda Colony, Tejsri Colony, Panduranga Colony and enquired about the works which are being taken up by HMWS&SB where the roads are being dug causing much inconvenience to the citizens of those areas.
The team also visited Palle Cheruvu at Katedan where the drainage water is polluting the lake. It interacted with the residents of the locality and were told that the existing Uppuguda nala, which is of 40-feet, has completely has been encroached by the function hall and only 2 feet has been left over. Due to this encroachment, during rains the water is coming out causing severe water stagnation.
During the inspection the team members have asked GHMC Commissioner and Special Officer Somesh Kumar to take up immediate measures and remove the encroachments. Later, the team inspected the nala situated near Zohra Bi Dargah at Edi Bazar and observed that lot of encroachments are coming up on either sides, for which the team members informed the Commissioner to curb the menace on priority basis.
The Team also visited and inspected the Transfer Station situated at Imblibun Bus Stand where the officials have given demonstration that how the garbage is being transported from the Transfer Station to Jawahar Nagar dumping yard. The Committee members also proposed that existing 12 transfer stations be increased to 30 for easy transportation of garbage in the coming days.
The team members also held a meeting with the HMWSSB officials on the working conditions and modernization of existing projects.
Chandrayangutta MLA Akbaruddin Owaisi, Musheerabad MLA Dr K. Laxman, HMWSSB MD Jagadishwar and senior officials from GHMC and HMWSSB departments have participated in the meeting.
The Swachh Hyderabad Committee members have proposed to visit some of the main areas of the twin cities on 6th June.
