Keolis CEO meets KCR Bernard Tabary, MD and Global CEO of French Company Keolis called on Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao on Thursday afternoon at Camp Office.
Keolis, which is into public transportation, operating metro, light rail and bus systems, in several cities across the globe in Paris, London, Washington, Boston and Melbourne is the operator for Hyderabad Metro. Bernard Tabary briefed the Chief Minister the unique features of Hyderabad Metro and the sophisticated technology that has gone into it. He also mentioned that once the Hyderabad Metro is completed, transportation experts from all over the world will visit Hyderabad to understand how to build an integrated and sophisticated public transportation system with innovation. Appreciating the vision of the Chief Minister to put Hyderabad on the global map as a top investment destination, Bernard has mentioned that Hyderabad Metro will substantially contribute towards realization of Chief Minister's dream of transforming Hyderabad into a global city.
Bernard was full praise for the Hyderabad Metro, which is innovatively designed both engineering-wise and financial model wise as the largest PPP Metro project in the world. He told CM that the project design is in a unique way with emphasis on integration of rail, bus and metro systems for providing 'seamless travel' facility in the city. He is also appreciative of the way Hyderabad Metro stations are being developed and the road level improvement works planned at the Metro stations. He also said that once metro is operative it will bring a change in the city and its liveability.
Responding to CEO Keolis, the Chief Minister said that he should ensure the operations of Hyderabad Metro to be absolutely safe and convenient even for ordinary and illiterate people. Safety of women and children and facilities for physically challenged people shall be specially taken care of, he emphasised. Since Keolis recruits the operating and maintenance engineers and personnel for the Hyderabad Metro, the Chief Minister advised the Keolis MD to ensure that they shall be from Telangana and that preference shall be given for the locals in Metro Rail recruitment. To this, Mr. Bernard has committed to the Chief Minister that he will ask his managers to go to local engineering colleges for campus recruitment and to see that local talent is encouraged and preference to be given to women wherever possible.
Lok Sabha Member Jitender Reddy, Chief Secretary to Government Dr. Rajiv Sharma, Principal Secretary to CM S. Narsing Rao, Additional Principal Secretary to CM A. Santhi Kumari, Special Secretary to CM Smita Sabharwal and HMR MD NVS Reddy were present during the meeting.
