Telangana CS alerts District Collectors
Hyderabad, June 18 (INN): Telangana Chief Secretary Dr Rajiv Sharma on Thursday directed the District Collectors to set up special teams and take stringent action on agencies selling seeds and fertilizers at higher prices and spurious seeds in the districts during the current Khariff season .
Addressing a video conference with all the district collectors from the secretariat the Chief Secretary also urged the District collectors to keep a vigilant eye on the distribution of seeds and fertilizers as adequate stocks were already positioned in the districts for the Khariff operations in all the districts. The stocks of fertilizers have already been dispatched to the PACS's in the districts. 'The officials should ensure that the farmers are not put to any inconveniences and hardships in getting seeds and fertilizers 'he said.
The chief secretary informed the Collectors that second installment of the popular farmers loan waiver scheme will be shortly released to the farmers on a war footing. He also urged the collectors to take up random survey by constituting special audit teams with multi departmental officials to detect irregularities, if any.
Dr Sharma also emphasized that the District collectors should focus on encouraging farmers to take up green manure. They should inform the farmers in advance about the green seeds already stocked in the districts. They should also educate them on the advantages and cost effectiveness of green manure as against pesticides etc.
The Chief Secretary also instructed the District Collectors to complete the task of construction of toilets in all the schools in the state by June 30th. 'Toilet construction on priority and top most agenda of both state and Central Governments ', he said.
Among those who participated in the video conference include Principal Secretary (Education) Ranjeev R. Acharya, Secretary (Finance) Rama Krishna Rao, Secretary (Agriculture) C Parthasarathy, Agriculture Director G D Priyadarshini and SLBC Convener Sitapathi Sharma.
