AP Ex-MP gets six months Jail term Congress leader and Amalapuram Ex-MP GV Harsha Kumar was sentenced to a six-month jail term and fined Rs 1,000 fine in an assault case. Harsha kumar was convicted by the Rajahmundry Third Additional Magistrate court for preventing the police from discharging duties.
The case was registered on Harsha Kumar way back on 2007. On'Feb 27 2007'the authorities imposed Section 144 in Rajahumandry in view of the hunger strike of Malamahanadu president Karem Sivaji . Some of harsha followers violated the rule and police arrested them. On knowing about this, Harshakumar rushed to the III Town police station and assaulted the police officer on'duty.SI'Murali Krishna filed a case against Harsha Kumar based ASI's complaint.
Harsha Kumar reportedly entered Rajahmundry Police Station on and forcibly took away his followers who were detained for violating section 144.
The court which heard the arguments, delivered its verdict on Thursday. However, police formally arrested the Ex-MP and released him on bail on the same day. After the sentencing, the court allowed Harsha Kumar 30 days' time to appeal
