Congress targets MIM's alliance with TRS alliance

Hyderabad, June 24 (INN): The Telangana Congress has asked the Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen to stand guarantee to the promises made by Telangana Rashtra Samithi with the Muslim community in Telangana State.

Addressing a review meeting with the Congress workers of Bahadurpura constituency in the Old City here on Wednesday, Leader of Opposition in Legislative Council Mohammed Ali Shabbir said all political parties were free to make new alliances before or after the elections. However, such alliances should be made on the basis of principals and commitments. He said that the MIM, which claims to be the sole representative of Muslims, should stand guarantee that its new ally, TRS, will provide 12% reservation to Muslims in Telangana State.

"Are you confident that TRS will fulfill the promise of 12% reservation? If yes, when? Do you agree that Sudhir Committee, constituted by TRS Government, has no legal sanctity? With Narendra Modi in power at the Centre, are you confident that TRS will get amendment in 9th Schedule to provide 12% reservation?" asked Shabbir Ali to MIM President Asaduddin Owaisi. He said being a barrister himself, Owaisi should provide a logical answer to the question raised by him.

Shabbir Ali also questioned MIM's failure to convince their new political partner (TRS Government) to order a CBI probe into the Alair encounter in which five Muslim under trials were killed on April 7. "MIM should spell out its stand on Alair encounter issue. It made only one representation with Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao and then remained silent while giving an impression that it was okay with the SIT probe order by TRS Government. Why Owaisi is unable to convince KCR that CBI probe was essential to restore the sense of security among Muslims?" he asked.

The Congress leader also asked MIM leadership to explain as to why it failed to ensure proper probe into the killing of innocent Muslims in Kishanbagh area in May 2014. "The enquiry report into Kishanbagh firing is yet to be made public and none of the guilty police officials have been punished. Instead of making tall claims, MIM leaders should learn to fight to get justice for the community," said Shabbir Ali.

The meeting, held at Golden Palace in Bahadurpura, was also addressed by senior leaders including Deputy CLP leader T Jeevan Reddy. (INN)
