TPCC completes review of 18 Assembly segments Hyderabad, June 24 (INN): The Assembly-constituency wise review meetings, held by the Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee, with local workers and leaders have received tremendous response and they have rejuvenated the entire cadre in the Greater Hyderabad limits.
This was stated by Leader of Opposition in Legislative Council Mohammed Ali Shabbir while addressing a press conference at Gandhi Bhavan here on Wednesday. Shabbir Ali informed that the of 23 Assembly segments, as on today, the review has been completed in 18 Assembly constituencies. He said that the response from youth, Muslims, women and the settlers was highly encouraging. He said the workers have turned up in large numbers and gave their valuable suggestions during the review meetings. He said that that the entire Congress cadre was geared up to face the forthcoming GHMC elections and would certainly win them.
Shabbir Ali also informed that review meetings for LB Nagar, Karwan, Secunderabad and Rajender Nagar would be held on June 30. The review meeting for Goshamahal constituency will held on July 5.
In the next phase, review meetings will be held at the division level. Since the GHMC is yet to identify the new 200 divisions, meetings will be held as per old 150 divisions in the Greater Hyderabad limits, he said.
'Provide 50% quota for locals in jobs'
Addressing the press conference, Shabbir Ali demanded that the State Government bring necessary legislation to ensure that at least 50% of jobs are reserved for the local youth in the new industries which are being set up in the State of Telangana.
Welcoming handing over of certificates to 17 investors for setting up of industries in Telangana, Shabbir Ali asked Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao to clarify as to how many of them belong to Telangana State. "The Congress party will wholeheartedly welcome the investments in Telangana. But the local youth should be given preference in allotment of lands and it should also be ensured that all new industries provide 50% quota in jobs for local youth," he said.
Shabbir Ali pointed out that the struggle for separate Telangana State was on the grounds that local resources were given away to outsiders and the local youth did not benefit from it. "We cannot simply give away our land, water, coal, electricity and other resources to investors from other regions or States while ignoring the welfare of our own youth. The State Government should allot land and give other resources to the investors only on the condition that they will provide at least 50% jobs to the locals," he demanded.
