MAA to felicitate Ramanaidu on Dec 6
Hyderabad, Nov 28 (INN): The Movie Artistes' Association (MAA) will felicitate Dada Saheb Phalke Awardee D Ramanaidu for his outstanding contributions for Indian cinema on December 6.
Dr Ramanaidu had received the highest honour of the entertainment industry by the Central Government in October. According to MAA president Murali Mohan, the entire Tollywood industry would gather at the felicitation ceremony to honour the 'Grand Old Man of Cinema', D Ramanaidu on December 6 at a programme to be held in Hotel Novotel.
Mr Murali Mohan revealed that prominent personalities from the film industry and politicians would take part in the programme.
Born in Karamchedu in Prakasam District of Andhra Pradesh in 1936, Dr Ramanaidu entered the film world in 1963 with his first film 'Anuragam', followed by the super hit film 'Ramudu-Bheemudu' starring NTR in 1964. Over the last 47 years, he has been a prolific producer of over 130 films in several Indian languages and finds mention in the Guinness Book of Records.
Apart from Telugu films, he has the distinction of producing movies in Hindi, Bengali, Oriya, Assamese, Malayalam, Tamil, Kannada, Gujarati, Marathi and Bhojpuri. Dr Ramanaidu has won various laurels for his films. His film, 'Surigadu' was selected for the Indian Panorama in 1993. 'Asukh', a Bengali film won the National Award for the Best Film in 1999. Apart from this, the films of the veteran artist have been honoured with several awards from the Andhra Pradesh Government.
The galaxy of artistes who have worked in his films include NT Rama Rao, A Nageswara Rao, Sivaji Ganesan, Pandari Bai, Jamuna, Padmini, Sobhan Babu, Kamal Haasan, Jayaprada, Chiranjeevi, Rajnikanth, Rajesh Khanna, Hema Malini, Rekha, Jeetendra and Sreedevi.
Dr Ramanaidu has built an envious track record in the film world for having introduced numerous film directors as well as artistes and technicians. A few well known artistes introduced by him include Venkatesh, Harish, Vanisri, Aryan Rajesh, Tabu, Khushboo, Allari Naresh and Malasree.
Some of the well-known films produced by Dr Ramanaidu in various languages include: 'Premanagar, 'Dildar', 'Bandish' in Hindi, 'Premanagar, 'Srikrishna Tulabharam', 'Preminchu' 'Ramudu Bheemudu', 'Bobbili Raja', 'Ahana Pellanta', 'Andhra Vaibhavam', 'Kathanayakudu' in Telugu, 'Asukh', 'Sudhu Ekbar Bolo' in Bengali, 'Maduve Agona Baa', 'Thavarumane Udugore' in Kannada, 'Vasantha Maligai', 'Thiru Mangalam', 'Thannikattu Raja', Oriya: 'Dharma Devatha' in Tamil, 'Maina Mor Dhuniya' in Assamese, 'Ashwaroodhan' in Malayalam, 'Mazi Aai' in Marathi and Shiva in Bhojpuri.
Dr Ramanaidu has also produced a film titled 'Hamari Beti' in Hindi which focuses on how handicapped people can lead a normal life and achieve their goals. The protagonist in the film is a girl who is severely handicapped in real life. This film has been screened in International Film Festivals like Chicago and Venice.
Apart from this, Dr Ramanaidu has set up studios, recording, preview and dubbing theatres and laboratories in Hyderabad and Vishakapatnam. During his entire career span, Dr Ramanaidu has been associated with every aspect of film making, thereby delivering a bouquet of entertaining films to the people.
