Cops probing Kalyans links with Bhanu Hyderabad: Film producer C Kalyan, an acquaintance of Bhanu Kiran, the prime suspect in the sensational killing of faction leader G Suryanarayana Reddy alias Maddelacheruvu Suri in the city few days back, was grilled by the city police. Kalyan was asked to appear before the Central Crime Station (CCS), which is probing Suri's murder, by the investigators and the former was grilled for more than one and half hours.
Investigators reportedly sought to know Kalyan's links with Suri and also Bhanu Kiran, a close associate of the slain faction leader. CCS sleuths reportedly grilled Kalyan as to how he came in contact with Bhanu and Suri. Preliminary investigations revealed that both Bhanu and Suri had reportedly invested money in Tollywood and that was how Kalyan, a prominent Telugu film producer, came in contact with Bhanu.
Emerging out of the CCS office, Kalyan lashed out at a section of media for dragging his name into the killing. Kalyan denied that he was avoiding police and said he was always available for questioning by the police. Kalyan said he does not have any personal relations with Suri and Bhanu.
'I am one of the buyer and presenter of 'Raktha Charitra' and Bhanu worked as a coordinator for the film. He helped us in selecting locations for the film in Anantapur,' Kalyan told reporters. Ramgopal Varma directed the film 'Raktha Charitra', which was based on faction feuds in Anantapur district between former TDP legislator late Paritala Ravindra and slain leader Maddelacheruvu Suri's family.
It was also learnt that the film producers took the help of Paritala's associates to select locations for the film. On the issue of securing funds from Bhanu for the film, Kalyan said he had produced more than 40 films and there is no need for him to take financial help from Bhanu.
Meanwhile, senior police officials said they have gathered enough evidence against some persons who were behind the killing of Suri and efforts were on to nab them. 'We have asked several persons, who are linked with the case, not to move out of the city without prior permission from us,' a senior police official said.
