Actress Yamuna held for prostitution Hyderabad, Jan 21(INN): Bangalore City Crime branch police on Thursday night caught red-handed noted actress Yamuna and CEO of a Software firm Venugopal and his friend Suraksh for their alleged involvement in a prostitution racket in a five-star hotel in Bangalore city. According to police, the raids were conducted on ITC Royal Gardenia Hotel on Thursday based on definite clues. The police arrested nine persons, including Yamuna, Suraksha and Venu Gopal for allegedly running a prostitution racket.
The arrested include a senior official of a software firm, Bangalore Police Commissioner Shankar Bidari told reporters here. He declined to give details about this official, saying the investigation is on. Bidari said they had a tip-off from Andhra Pradesh police three months ago about a prostitution racket involving the actress. 'We were gathering information and learned that the actress and several others were in ITC Royal Gardenia (an upscale hotel in the heart of Bangalore), raided the place late Thursday and arrested nine people,' he said.
Yamuna who is hugely popular on ETV serials has acted in a few notewothy Telugu and Tamil films and serials. A prominent software company proprietor was also among the arrested. Earlier, film actresses like Vineeta, Bhuvaneshwari and in recent memory Saira Banu and Jyoti have been accused of being involved in prostitution. Insiders say that the film actresses take to prostitution as film offers dwindle and roles are hard to come by.
Shockingly, actress Vinita had told media persons after being held for prostitution that she was forced to resort to the step after her mother told her that this was an easy way of getting roles in films. One more reason for falling into prostitution is as most of stars are addicted to luxurious style of living.
