'Jai Bolo Telangana' cleared, to hit screens on Feb 4 Hyderabad, Jan 27 (INN): Ostensibly bowing to pressure of Telangana activists, the Censor Board has finally given clearance to N Shankar directed `Jai Bolo Telangana.' With the Censor Board giving clearance, the controversial film is set for release on February 4. Earlier, the film was scheduled to release on January 28 but it ran into troubles when some board members objected over the film's content and scenes.
Later Revising Committee of the board has seen the movie and has suggested some minor cuts to which the director Shankar has agreed. With this the Censor Board gave clearance to `Jai Bolo Telangana' and awarded `A' certificate to the film.
Earlier in the day, the Telangana Advocates Joint Action Committee members staged a protest in front of Andhra Pradesh Film Development Corporation office to protest against the Censor Board's decision not to give clearance for the film. The advocates raising Jai Telangana slogans, took out a motorcycle rally from Nampally Criminal Courts complex to Censor Board office at Film Development Corporation office.
The advocates entered into heated arguments with police at Board Office. Sensing trouble, the police arrested 30 advocates and shifted them to nearby police station. The lawyers alleged the Censor Board, which gave clearance certificate to Raktha Chatra made by Seemandhra producer, showing discrimination on film as it belongs to Telangana region.
Advocates JAC convener Rangarao said the Seemandhra leaders hatched a conspiracy to stop the film as it highlights the great sacrifices of Telangana people, for the cause of statehood agitation. He alleged the Seemandhra theater owners are making efforts not to screen the film in theatres.
