Accident on Balayya film set at Vizag Visakhapatnam: In a freak accident, cameraman Vijay Kumar and three of his assistants were injured when the seat of a camera crane broke during the shooting of Balakrishna's untitled film at Yerada, near near the Gangavaram Beach, Visakhapatnam.on Wednesday. The injured were shifted to the Seven Hills Hospital for treatment. Two of them were discharged after first aid. Vijay Kumar, however, suffered a fracture on his leg and was operated at a hospital in Vizag. The accident occurred when cameraman Vijay and his assistant Ratnam were shooting a vehicle blast scene at a private resort near Gangavaram Beach on Wednesday afternoon.The film starring Balakrishna and Lakshmi Rai is being produced on the banner of 'Keerthi Combines' by M.L.Kumar Chowdary.
The cameras were mounted on a crane and they were involved in the shooting when the crane suddenly gave way and they fell to the ground leading to severe injuries to the duo, according to sources in the film industry. 'It was a freak accident. The seat collapsed from a height of five feet, but our cinematographer was hurt badly and three technicians were injured,' said producer M.L. Kumar Chowdary. Due to the accident, shooting will have to be stalled for a couple of weeks until the cinematographer is back on his feet.
Just a week back, the producer had to discontinue shooting in a specially-erected set in the forests near Vizag. 'Though we got permission to shoot in the forests, we were forced to stop shooting by some officials. I was asked to get fresh permission from Hyderabad and I am keeping my fingers crossed since I have already spent Rs 50 lakh erecting a huge set,' said Choudury.
