Hyderabad: So quick has been Deeksha Seth's rise in Telugu cinema that the actress has already drawn comparisons to the reigning queen, Anushka Shetty. A Miss India finalist, Deeksha joins the long list of models who is making a mark in the South Indian film scene. A sensational debut (in Vedam) with Allu Arjun gave her a perfect launchpad. Says she, 'Frankly, acting was never in my mind. But the offer was too good to reject. To have debuted in an Allu film was a dream-like situation.'

How did this happen? 'The casting crew of Vedam happened to be around and they spotted me during one of the modelling sessions in Hyderabad,' says Deeksha. It's been almost a year since she made her debut in Vedam. Though she had only a minor role in the film, thanks to the big names attached, she got noticed. Soon she was signed to play the lead role in another film, Mirapakay, opposite Ravi Teja and Wanted with Gopichand. Mirapakay, where she played a strong character, was one of the first hits of the year though Wanted, which released 10 days later, hardly made any buzz at the box office.

Despite the hectic schedules, she is doing her final year B.Com (Hons). How does she juggle between the two? 'It's tough to handle both. Acting and studies are different. I study when I'm on a schedule break and carry books to shoots too.' She believes that a degree is very important and she wouldn't act if she can't manage time. 'I love my job and I wouldn't do it if I don't like. So that's why I can manage studies and films simultaneously.' Well, she has done a great job at it. The glam doll has already been signed for a film, Rebel, co-starring Prabhas and she also has a Tamil film with Vikram which begins in March. Apart from these two films, she also has another big-budget film, 'Oo Kodathaara Vulikki Paduthaara', opposite Manchu Manoj.

Ask her if she wants to flaunt a size-zero figure and pat comes the reply, 'No. Not in India. Curves are very nice. One shouldn't have flab, yet should look voluptuous and good!' Interestingly, she says Ileana has the best body in Telugu. 'Ileana is well shaped and toned,' she says. And she is a firm believer of the fact that audience is the biggest support. 'I have come this way without any godfathers. And most big stars had no backing when they entered the film industry. Audience makes our careers here.'

5'10', the bebo has often been compared with Anushka Shetty. There's even a buzz in the industry that she could be the prefect replacement for Anushka who turned 30 recently. 'I really respect her and I am fond of her as I know her personally since Vedam days. I have come here to make my own place and I don't care about what people say.'

However, there is no dearth of rumours and gossips surrounding her. Deeksha says, 'Once I had gone out on a date with my boyfriend back in college. I had no idea that he had already planned everything for the evening and surprised me, which I thought was cute.' So, is there someone special in her life now? Mum's the word! Looks like it will take sometime for her to complete her studies and do more films before love happens. Finally, any dream role? 'Yes, the one Angelina Jolie did in Tomb Raider'. Is she the next big thing in Telugu?
