Balakrishna complains against 'hate' website

Hyderabad: Nandamuri Balakrishna, the Tollywood actor is under attack in cyberspace. A spoof website IHateBalayya.com has been launched with the punch line 'vaadu naaku assaley nachadu'. Numerous jokes, morphed photographs and other material have been hosted online, which allegedly show the cine star and the NTR family in bad light. Taking serious objection to the matter posted on the website, Balakrishna yesterday lodged a police complaint. The TDP has also strongly condemned the act.

'The website is highly objectionable and done in a bad taste," TDP general secretary Varla Ramaiah said. There is no restriction to anyone launching a website, but one should not insult others using the Internet,' he said. Ramaiah said TDP leaders would personally meet the Cyberabad police commissioner and lodge a complaint. He has already dashed off a letter to police and demanded that a criminal case be registered against the persons who launched the website.

'We do not know who are behind this. Police should investigate to find out the culprits,' Ramaiah said. Balakrishna had campaigned for TDP during elections. Balakrishna, who is the brother-in-law of TDP chief, N Chandrababu Naidu has announced before he was likely to join active politics in future.

Fans of Chiranjeevi and Balakrish-na who resort to street fights have now taken the war to cyberspace, running hate websites and blogs. The cyber crime cops have warned of serious action against the fans who are morphing pictures and videos which are derogatory, defamatory and highly offensive. Ihatechiru.com, ihatebalayya.com, wehatebalayya.blogspot.com, wehatechiru.blogspot.com., anti-balayya.blogspot.com and jokesonchiru.blogspot.com are some of the hate sites identified by the Crime Investigation Department. The content from the websites are circulated on the internet and social networking sites.

Apart from Balakrishna, the stars in his family like Jr NTR, Kalyanram and Tarakratna are ridiculed in www.ihatebalayya.com. On the other hand, apart from Chiru his brothers Pavan Kalyan, Nagendra Babu, son Ramcharan Teja and nephew Allu Arjun are targetted in www.ihatechiru.com. With the war getting dirtier, both sides approached the cyber crime police.

Police warns youth

The additional superintendent of police of Crime Investigation Department (cyber crime), Mr U. Ram Mohan, said, 'Under Section 66(a) of the Information Technology Act, if a computer is used for sending and posting grossly offensive content and criminal hatred, it is punishable by three years imprisonment and a fine,' Mr Mohan, elaborated on the star fans' hate sites, 'These websites has damaging remarks and character assassination. These website servers are in United States. It costs $12 per year for the website domain. We haven't received any written complaint and if we receive any such complaint we will register cases. Based on oral complaints we cannot act.'

He warned, 'Youth should not spoil their life by indulging in such acts. Most of the fans are not aware of the stringent provisions in the amended Information Technology Act. Ihatebalayya.com was registered in March 2010 and ihatechiru.com was registered in June 2010. Since then the posts are updated and it reached a peak recently when it came to the notice of the police.
