Lalithakala Samrat for Anil Kapoor Hyderabad: It was a programme organised to promote art and culture and, true to its objective, artists, actors, singers and politicians cutting across regions joined in to make it a glittering event on Saturday.
The T. Subbarami Reddy Lalithakala Parishath Mega Cultural Festival organised at Shilpakalavedika here was a star-studded event. Dadasaheb Phalke awardees Akkineni Nageswara Rao and D. Rama Naidu and actor Allu Arjun, Anushka Shetty, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy and Union Minister for Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Vilasrao Deshmukh took part in it. The programme commenced with a music programme by S.P. Balasubrahmanyam and K.S. Chitra.
T. Subbarami Reddy, M.P. and Parishath founder-chairman, said the Parishath would construct auditoriums in all districts in Andhra Pradesh to encourage artists and organisations to conduct cultural programmes regularly.
Speaking on the occasion, chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy said the state government would help in constructing auditoriums in all district headquarters to promote arts and culture while encouraging stage shows and other arts. T Subbarami Reddy, founder president, TSR Lalithakala Parishath said, 'The first auditorium will be constructed in Rajahmundry and works are to start soon.' He added they would also encourage writers of poetry, novels, short story, essay and other literary forms by conducting seminars and workshops and publishing their works.
The Chief Minister said films could influence people a lot and it also affected society on a broader perspective. He lauded the Parishath for promoting and propagating the art and culture, and also for construction of auditoriums. Mr. Deshmukh expressed his gratitude to the Parishath for inviting him for the event.
Later, Vilasrao Deshmukh and Kiran Kumar Reddy presented TSR awards to producer Allu Aravind, actor Allu Arjun, Indian Idol winner Sreeramchandra, actress Anuskha, Poonam Kaur and Suhasini. TSR Lalithakala Parishath president Dr D Ramanaidu, ministers K Jana Reddy, Vatti Vasanth Kumar, veteran actor Akkineni Nageswara Rao were present.
Bollywood actor Anil Kapoor bagged the Lalithakala Samrat title and was felicitated on the occasion. He started his address in Telugu with 'Andariki Namaskaram' which won him a huge round of applause from the gathering. 'Hyderabad is home and Andhra Pradesh gave me my foundation as an actor with a film 'Vamsa Vruksham' three decades ago. This city and this award will always remain close to my heart,' he said.
The cynosure of the evening was 'Durga,' a dance ballet by Hema Malini. Film producer Allu Arvind, actor Suhasini and others were also felicitated.
