Chiranjeevi, still aims high
Hyderabad: Having launched a political party aiming the high seat of Chief Minister and subsequently merged his party into Congress does not mean a closed chapter to Mega Star Chiranjeevi's dreams of becoming the Cheif Minister. He still commands a lot of influence with the powers that be in Congress. Obviously, he did not stop dreaming too. One can easily understand what he aims at if one could read between the lines what he says tongue -in-cheek.
Chiranjeevi is very discreet when asked about when he is going to don a role of Chief Minister in his 150th film. 'Not only on screen, i can live with the role (Chief Minister) in real life too' Chiranjeevi expressed his wish. The occassion was the launch of UTV Action movies in Telugu. To launch the new channel which will showcase fast-paced action content from Hollywood in Telugu, the management thought it apt to have Mega Star Chiranjeevi. And in his inimitable style, Chiru held a gun and shot off the thin screen that covered the channel logo to unveil it.
UTV Action Telugu joins the existing UTV bouquet of UTV Bindass, UTV World Movies, UTV Movies and UTV Action Hindi. It will present multiple blockbuster titles comprising Hellboy, Book of Eli, Angels & Demons, The Bounty Hunter, Bad Boys, Karate Kid and several others such Spiderman, XXX, Men In Black and Hancock.
'Despite new trends in Telugu film making, Hollywood action movies continue to be of different level. We have limitations of technical excellence and also budget,' observed Chiranjeevi on the occasion. Movies laced with high action happen to be his favourites and they include James Bond series and also those featuring Jackie Chan, Schwarzenegger, Sylvester Stallone and Steven Seagal. 'Action cinema offers a completely different experience,' he said.
In a lighter vein, Chiranjeevi remarked that his son Ram Charan was causing damage to his repute as an action hero with his excellent action performances. 'Till now, I used to be regarded the best horse riding action star but with 'Magadheera', he overtook me,' he said. Having entered into politics, will he be acting again? 'I am seriously into politics. Let me serve the people. Anyway, Ram Charan is there for you,' he quipped.
