Ramesh had assets worth Rs 207 crore
HYDERABAD: Singanamala Ramesh, the tainted Tollywood producer, who is behind the bars for allegedly cheating a film financier to the tune of Rs 14.69 crore, might claim that he is pauper. But his properties in 2007 were worth a whopping Rs 207.63 crore.
Sources in the police department said that Ramesh entered film industry 20 years ago as a film financier and it was in 2002 he turned a producer by starting his own banner `Kanakarathna Movies'.
Kanakarathna Financiers, owned by Ramesh, had an interest receipts of Rs 2 crore for the year ending March 31, 2007. Similarly, for Uma Maheshwara Financiers the interest receipts were Rs 1.25 crore for the year ending March 31, 2007.
Police said they have information that Ramesh owned properties in 27 different locations in Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu. Most of the properties were located in prime locations like a flat in Maruthi Heights in Banjara Hills, a flat in T Nagar, Chennai, a plot in Film Nagar, one acre land in Nanakramguda, a flat at Jayabheri Silicon County in Madhapur, two-acre land in Serilingampalli, six acre land in Puppalguda, 75 cents in Gachibowli, six acre land in Patancheru besides several properties in T Nagar, Chennai.
'We are trying to gather evidence whether these properties were the benami properties of faction leader Maddelacheruvu Suri since he was a close friend of Ramesh,' police said.
Police said that Ramesh had a history of giving finance to big banners in Telugu and Tamil films which include Surya movies, Vyjayanthi movies, Creative commercials, Vaishno Academy, Bommorillu, Oscar films, Lakshmi Movie Makers, Sumanth Art Productions, S Films, Aditya Productions, Bharathi Enterprises, Sri Keerthi Creations, Sri Venkataramana Pictures, Kodali Movies, Sri Jayabheri Art Production and Sri Kamakshi Movies.
