Annapurna Studios launches film school Hyderabad: Presenting as the largest film school in Asia, Annapurna Studios on Thursday announced the launch of International School of Film and Media (ISFM) which would operate as non-profit institute to provide world-class education to aspiring students in the media industry.
Unveiling the ISFM logo on Thrusday, Akkineni Nageswara Rao and actor Nagarjuna said the admissions for short term courses would open from Friday with admissions for degree programmes slated in next six months to a year.
Located in the sprawling 22 acre campus of Annapurna Studios, the school would utilise the existing infrastructure such as studios, floors and post-production facilities for imparting training to the students.
'Another 1 lakh sft has been added to step the school which happens to be the largest such facility in Asia and the only private, non-profit film and media institute in the country,' Nagarjuna said.
'Apart from actors, the industry needs writers and production staff and the institute will train aspiring students in what the industry needs,' he said.
Affiliating with world's best media technology companies, it looks at providing students with 24 hour access to the latest computers and filmmaking software.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr.Nageswara Rao described the institute as a dream come true of giving back to the industry which gave so much to him and his family. 'We strongly felt that the best way to give back was through education and specifically education in media,' he said.
The ISFM CEO, Kurt Inderbitzin observed that relatively little international media was created in India despite developing world-class studio facilities and having extraordinary locations for shooting.
Courses
Apart from acting and direction, the courses offered by the institute include 'Practical Filmmaking', 'NGO Corporate Film Production', 'Music Video Production', 'Film Appreciation', 'Script Lab', 'Digital Photography', 'Movie Magic' and 'Applications For iPhone and iPad'.
