Choreographer-turned actor and director Raghava Lawrence's 'Kanchana' turned out to be a hit at the box-office. Bellamkonda Suresh who acquired the Telugu version rights is quite happy with 'Kanchana's performance in B and C centers. Lawrence expects that 'Kanchana' will surely repeat the magic of 'Muni' at the box office.

Actor and producer Krishnam Raju was in full praise of Lawrence. 'Any movie which has a message is a commendable movie. But to have two messages while at the same time commercializing the movie is something that only Lawrence can do,' he said.

The movie, which has Lawrence portraying the role of a eunuch for a part of the movie, has also touched upon the issue of handicaps. Says Raju, 'When I was a minister, we used to discuss about the plight of the handicaps and people used to sympathise them. But handicap people actually become stronger in other aspects and do better to compensate their disability while a normal person remains stagnated. I say sympathise yourself.'

Speaking about his trade he said, 'No artist can ever attain perfection as an actor. But an actor can perfect a characterisation, depending on how strong the screenplay is.' The actor has done movies like 'Mana Voori Pandavulu', 'Krishnaveni',' Bhaktha Kannappa', 'Amaradeepam', 'Katakatala Rudraiah', 'Seetha Ramulu', 'Thrishoolam', 'Bobbili Bhahmanna'.

He also spoke about the change in the industry since his initial time and now. 'There is no single controlling factorial right now. Thus peole are coming up with films any which way they like. When I started out, the industry was like a family, everyone was treated the same and we struggled for each other and the film.'

Meanwhile, speaking about Sarath Kumar's performance, Lawrence says, 'His role is one of the highlights of the film and my heartfelt thanks to him for accepting to play such challenging role. He is such a big star with a great fan following but without any second thought he accepted to play a straight-contrast character which will be done any other star of his stature.'

Lawrence has already announced a sequel to 'Kanchana' and the script work is said to be under progress. The film was released last week. The movie, which is a sequel to his earlier movie 'Muni', is an interesting mix of phobia and taboo to create a horror flick.

The film's story:

Raghava (Lawrence) spends most of his time playing cricket with his friends and is so fearful that he takes his mother with him even to go to the bathroom! He falls in love with a relative (Laxmi Rai). But strange things begin to happen in his house, which makes life hell for the family...
